Speed Painting Star Wars Legion Stormtroopers PART TWO

Hi guys, follow up video from the one I posted yesterday. Here I start to zero in on the best way to crank they out fast without sacrificing too much quality.

New Video Posted - Star Wars Legion Stormtroopers

New video up - this one is...interesting. It's my first crack at trying to do the close up painting shots (gonna have to keep workin' on that as you will see), and it's not exactly a tutorial. More of a stream-of-consciousness exploration.

Despite what it appears, I think the techniques I tried out are going to work for me, with a bit of tweaking.

New Auction Posted - Vaguard-Palladors

Hi folks, just a quick update to mention I have a new auction posted right now - it's for a painted unit of Stormcast Eternal Vanguard-Palladors. I'm likely going to have some additional units posted to ebay in the coming weeks, possibly even an army or two (although to be honest those will be priced quite high).

Should you wash your miniatures?

New video posted about if and when you should wash your miniatures (like, with soap and water) before priming.

I'm a little...smug? arrogant? sounding in this video - maybe I had too much sugar before filming it, not sure!

My First Vlog

I vlogged...I think that's what it's called. These will hopefully continue and get better. For now, if you watch it, sorry about the road noise...

New Video Posted - What's Your Bar?

Hey gang,

Just a quick note that I have a new video up, wherein I discuss the benefits and importance of taking the time to contemplate the quality bar you are going for with your miniature painting, and why you are painting miniatures in the first place.

Update and a New Video Posted

Hi folks!

Well...Operation Rebranding stalled, as I got my first batch of logos from this afternoon and...yeah, not super lovin' them:

I mean, they were supposed to be 3D for one thing, and for another they look like logos made by someone who *totally* doesn't understand what we do around here and what we are into :)  Which is likely the case. So I'm trying again with a different person.

Also still waiting for Dotser to transfer my domain name. They take like several days to do it...just to be spiteful I guess.

Lastly, I posted another video, about how to strip miniatures. I'm still working on quality of sound, video, lighting, editing...the works. And ideally soon I will actually do a video about the painting part :)

Let me know your thoughts and I'd also love to hear any ideas you guys have for future videos (like do you prefer tutorials,

MiniJunkie - The Resurrection?

Hi folks!

(looks around at the empty room)

Well, possibly some of you are subscribed to updates from this blog or will see it in a blog roll :)  Obviously two years is a long time to go without posting. And like...five years since I've posted anything on YouTube.

But I'm trying to get back into producing hobby content as best I can. The years of very young children are behind me so I have a bit more time to dedicate to it. And I'm still doing plenty of painting, modeling and gaming. Here's my latest - a gang for Necromunda:

So I've created a facebook page where I will likely post shorter thoughts, quick photos, WIP etc. Here's a link for those of you who use facebook:

NOTE: My previous domain ( is offline temporarily, as it is moving to a new host. ETA to be back up and running ~ Monday or Tuesday of next week.

I've also posted two new videos on my YouTube channel and hope to post more in the coming weeks. I'm working out how to get a better camera angle on my hands/models while painting. There are some guys out there who just have a superb shot of themselves at work and I'm struggling to replicate it! Not to mention lighting...sound...the works. But I'm gonna try.

(I hate that my link says my ancient username theOrangecoke but can't figure out how to change it!)

So I'm going to try to keep the facebook page updated and the YouTube channel content flowing...I'm not sure if I'll also be able to keep the blog updated. I think I'll likely hit my limit on being able to keep it all up to date, while also actually doing the hobby and painting itself!  I'm also hoping to update my branding with a cleaner/new logo - maybe a cool logo animation. Who knows? So far best I came up with is a font (with thanks to Tom Vlatko!).

As an aside:

Not going to Twitch stream any painting just yet. Although I do have a channel, where I play PUBG and may also play Fornite. So far literally zero people have watched the channel lol :)
